Store admin spans the theme, the catalog, and the day-to-day work of keeping a shop coherent. A solo merchant wants a draft of that work, and still wants the publish button to stay in human hands. A silent theme push is the failure this case is written to avoid.
This is a handoff for setup, design proposals, and management on a Shopify store you connect yourself. It is not one-click live publishing. It is not the Link or Shop Pay purchase flow.
What Anthropic documents
The launch article says Claude Duet can set up, design, and manage your Shopify store. The same article says a richer visual editor, for designing the storefront and previewing it before anything goes live, is coming soon. That editor is not available. Do not ask this template to open a preview UI the article has not shipped.
The article also says Claude Duet can use the over 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace. That figure is Anthropic’s. This page does not inventory them, and it does not invent Shopify plan tiers.
Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything, the launch article says it shows you what it is about to do and waits for your approval. Treat a live publish or a customer-facing change the same way: you confirm it. The preview can misread a thread. The launch article also treats personal errands as a weaker fit than the business tasks it names. This template stays on the store.
The help center says you start every connection yourself and can disconnect it. Disconnecting stops new access. It repeats the wait before sending, paying, signing, or deleting. It is a research preview.
The product page describes larger tasks such as decks and dashboards, and the same approval design. It does not say the richer Shopify editor is live.

Shopify’s own post on launch day, not an Anthropic help page, says Shopify already connects, that you can design a store in the chat, and that you can use Claude Duet to stay on top of performance. Cite that as Shopify: Shopify on X, 2026-10-21.

Limits
The richer visual editor is coming soon only. This page never describes it as something you can open. If a step needs that editor, the prompt says to stop instead of inventing a preview.
