Problem
Delegating a purchase is useful and easy to get wrong. The useful version finds the item and stops. The costly version checks out on a similar product, or spends before you have seen the merchant.
This case is safety-first procurement for a business. Claude Duet confirms the item. Link or Shop Pay asks you to approve the spend. It is not unsupervised shopping, and it is not a store-theme editor.

Sign-in with 1Password, so a permissioned login can be handed across, is coming soon in that article. It is not available. This template does not pretend that login exists.
Before a payment, and before a send, a signature, or a deletion, the article says Claude Duet shows you what it is about to do and waits. Trading securities and moving money between accounts stay off limits even with approval. The preview can misread a thread. The launch write-up treats personal errands as a weaker fit than these business tasks. This template is a business purchase you approve, not a personal errand list.
The help center covers the same flow under partner integrations and “Purchases with Link and Shop Pay.” Link and Shop Pay are available in Claude Duet for now. You connect them in Claude Duet, not in the connectors directory. Claude Duet is designed to ask before each purchase. Each purchase uses a one-time card that only works for that purchase.

What partners said on X
These posts are the companies’ own words. They are not Claude Help Center articles. Anthropic’s approval rule still governs the spend.
Stripe on X says you can make purchases with Link. The same post mentions Stripe MCP for refunds and trends. That MCP line is Stripe’s claim about Stripe’s MCP. This page does not describe a Duet refund screen, and it does not treat MCP refunds as Link checkout.
Shopify on X says Shop Pay works for every purchase in Claude Duet, including, in Shopify’s wording, stores that are not on Shopify. That is Shopify’s post. It does not remove the confirm-then-approve steps Anthropic describes.

Limits
This is not auto-buy. Confirm the item, then approve the spend. The sources do not say Claude Duet sees or stores your real card number. They say a virtual card and a one-time card are how the purchase is paid, so that number is not shared.
Trading securities and moving money between accounts stay off limits even if you approve them. Invoice reminders in Stripe or QuickBooks are a different job: Draft reminders for unpaid invoices. Store setup is Set up and manage a Shopify store, not this checkout.
Claude Duet vs Muse compares approval-before-purchase wording on the vendors’ own pages. It is not a checkout guide. A morning brief is unrelated to the card. The Oct 23 safety article’s one-time Link card, which you approve in the Link app, is mapped on Claude Duet safety, privacy, and credentials. Shared limits are on About.

- 1Connect Link, Shop Pay, or both inside Claude Duet. The help center says they are not connected from the general connectors directory.
- 2Name the item, a budget cap, and any merchant you will or will not accept.
- 3Paste the community prompt. Require the exact product, price, and merchant before checkout. Do not pay on a guess.
- 4Approve the spend in the Link or Shop Pay step Anthropic describes. Keep the receipt. A confirmed item is not the same as a paid order until you approve that spend.
Find [item] for my business under [budget] from [preferred store or “any reputable US merchant”]. Show me the exact product, price, and merchant before any checkout. Do not pay, submit an order, or share payment details until I confirm that specific item and then approve the Link or Shop Pay spend step. Prefer Shop Pay or Link if available. If you cannot complete checkout within those rules, stop and report what blocked you.
When to use
- This is a business purchase you are willing to approve yourself. You want the item found and confirmed while the charge still waits for you.
- You can name a budget and a merchant constraint before anyone checks out.
- You do not need securities trading or a transfer between accounts. Those stay off limits even with approval.
