## What this does

Claude Duet sends a morning brief from the email and calendar you connect, can draft replies for you to review, and is designed not to send anything until you approve it.

## Problem

You start the day with more apps open than decisions you can actually make. Claude Duet is built to come to you first.

Anthropic’s help center says that each morning Claude Duet looks across your email and calendar, picks what most needs your attention, and can start the first steps, such as drafting replies for you to review. Through the day it sends updates on work it is doing and can follow up on threads that have gone quiet. The [launch article](https://claude.com/resources/articles/claude-duet) says the brief covers the most important items across connected apps, and that those apps are checked every few hours rather than nonstop, because constant checking would use a plan’s limits faster.

This template does not add a custom clock, a model picker, or a promise that the brief is always right. The help center says Claude Duet can misread a thread or misjudge what is urgent, and that something urgent can land between checks.

Putting a new meeting on the calendar is separate. [Schedule a meeting](/personal-ai/schedule-meeting) is the approval-first scheduling case. A brief for a meeting that is already booked stays on [meeting prep](/research/meeting-brief).

## Steps

1. Join the Claude Duet waitlist with the email on your Claude account. During the research preview you need a Pro or Max plan and a Claude account in the US.
2. When you are invited, open Claude Duet on iPhone, Android, or claude.ai and sign in with that Claude account.
3. Connect Gmail and Google Calendar yourself in Claude settings. You can disconnect either app later. Disconnecting stops new access; memory of earlier conversations is kept.
4. Paste the prompt and say what the brief should include, and how often you want to hear from Claude Duet.
5. Read the morning brief and any drafted replies. Claude Duet is designed to wait for your approval before it sends a message. Use the Tasks tab for work in progress. Only you can mark a task complete.

## Prompt

```
Each morning, look across my connected email and calendar. Send a short brief of what most needs my attention today. For anything that needs a reply, draft the reply and wait for my approval before sending. During the day, message me only when something needs a decision. If a thread I asked you to watch has gone quiet, remind me.
```

## When to use

- You want one short list of what needs you, instead of opening every app.
- You are willing to connect email and calendar, and you will still read drafts before they go out.
- You do not need an instant alert. Checks run at set intervals, so something urgent can arrive between them.

## FAQ

### Does the morning brief use my plan limits?

Yes. The help center says background work, including the morning brief and check-ins, counts toward the same Pro or Max limits as the rest of Claude.

### Can I choose what it tells me?

The launch post says you can tell Claude Duet what you want to hear about and how often. It checks connected accounts every few hours, not continuously.

### Will it email people while I am away?

It is designed to show you the message and wait before sending. It can still misread a thread, so read the draft before you approve it.
