## What this does

Anthropic’s help center says Claude Duet can use apps you already connected in Claude, and it names Google Calendar in that list. A Workspace article lists Calendar actions for Claude and Claude Desktop. Duet is designed to ask before it sends a message or deletes anything. It does not make phone calls or send text messages. This page is not a hands-on test.

## Problem

The useful handoff is the day as it stands: what is already booked, where a block fits, and a draft you can reject before an invitation goes out.

Anthropic’s [help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/17631495-get-started-with-claude-duet) says Claude Duet can use the apps you have already connected in Claude. The examples include Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, and Calendly. You start every connection yourself, and you can disconnect any app later. Disconnecting stops new access from that moment. Memory of earlier conversations is kept.

The same article says each morning Claude Duet looks across your email and calendar. That morning list is [Start the day with a morning brief](/personal-ai/morning-brief). A short brief for a meeting that is already booked is [Pull a company brief before a meeting](/research/meeting-brief).

A second article, [Use Google Workspace connectors](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/10166901-use-google-workspace-connectors), describes Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive on Claude and Claude Desktop. That article is not a Claude Duet screen guide. Duet reuses a Calendar connection you made in Claude. The Workspace article is where the Calendar actions are listed.

## What each source covers

| What you are checking | Where it is written |
| --- | --- |
| Duet can use Google Calendar if you already connected it in Claude | Get started with Claude Duet |
| A morning look across email and calendar | Get started with Claude Duet |
| View events, including shared calendars you can access; create, update, and delete; find mutual availability; respond to invitations; recurring meetings | Use Google Workspace connectors, for Claude and Claude Desktop |
| Ask before a send or a delete | Get started with Claude Duet, and the launch article |
| No phone calls and no text messages to other people | Get started with Claude Duet |
| Checks at set intervals, not continuously | Get started with Claude Duet; the launch article says every few hours |
| A live pane beside the chat for Docs, Sheets, and Slides | The Workspace article only. Not a Calendar step, and not described as a Duet screen |

## What the Workspace article lists for Calendar

On Claude and Claude Desktop, that article says Claude can:

- View events and calendars, including shared calendars you have access to.
- Create, update, and delete events.
- Find mutual availability across attendees.
- Manage attendee lists and respond to invitations: accept, decline, or tentative.
- Set up recurring meetings.

The same article says that, by default, each action Claude takes on your behalf requires your explicit approval. On Team and Enterprise plans, owners decide whether members can allow some actions without asking each time. Claude Duet is not on Team or Enterprise during this preview, so that owner setting is not carried over to Duet here.

The Duet help center’s own approval line is send, pay, sign, or delete. An invitation is a message. A deleted event is a delete. Creating or updating an event is listed on the Workspace article for Claude and Claude Desktop. The Duet get-started article does not publish a separate click-path for those Calendar tools.

## What this does not turn into a Duet screen

The Workspace article also describes live editing of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides in a pane beside the chat. Those are separate Docs, Sheets, and Slides connectors. This page does not treat that pane as a Calendar step or as a Claude Duet layout. Finding a file in Drive is [Find a file in Google Drive](/personal-ai/google-drive).

[Schedule a meeting](/personal-ai/schedule-meeting) is the Calendly-led case: proposed times, a draft invite, or a Calendly note, after you connect Calendly yourself. Use that page when the job is a Calendly event type or scheduling link. Use this page when the job is the Google Calendar account: events already on it, open time, or a drafted change. The two pages stay separate.

The help center says Claude Duet does not make phone calls or send text messages to other people. With your approval, it can send email from accounts you connected. This page does not describe a WhatsApp invite or an SMS invite.

Microsoft 365 is not available yet, per the help center. This page does not describe Outlook.

The help center says Claude Duet checks connected accounts at set intervals, so something urgent can arrive between checks. The [launch article](https://claude.com/resources/articles/claude-duet) says it checks every few hours, because checking nonstop would use your plan’s limits much faster. An event you just wrote can sit until the next check. The preview can misread a thread or misjudge what is urgent. During the research preview you cannot watch the browser or take it over.

The named-app directory is [connectors](/connectors).

Claude Duet is a research preview. This page did not book a room or run the task.

## Steps

1. Connect Google Calendar yourself in Claude settings. Claude Duet reuses that connection. You can disconnect it later. Disconnecting stops new access; memory of earlier conversations is kept.
2. State the day or range, the timezone, and the task: show events, find open time, or draft a new or updated event. Paste the prompt and replace the brackets.
3. Read the draft. The Workspace article is where view, create, update, delete, free time, invitation replies, and recurring meetings are listed, for Claude and Claude Desktop. It is not a Claude Duet screen guide.
4. Approve only the send or delete you intend. Claude Duet does not call people or text them. Checks run at set intervals, so a change you just made can sit between checks.

## Prompt

```
Using my connected Google Calendar, in timezone [timezone], show my events for [date or range]. If I ask, include shared calendars I can already see. Find open time for a [duration] block that avoids [constraints]. Draft a new or updated event titled [title] with [attendees]. Do not create, change, delete, or send an invitation until I approve that specific step. Do not call anyone or send a text message. If Calendar is not connected, stop and tell me.
```

## When to use

- Google Calendar is already connected in Claude, or you are willing to connect it yourself, and Calendly is not the tool you need.
- You want events, open time, or a drafted change inside that calendar, and you will read it before an invitation goes out.
- You do not need a Calendly event type or scheduling link. That path is a different case.

## FAQ

### How is this different from the Calendly page?

Schedule a meeting is the Calendly-led case. The help center names Calendly as a connector you connect yourself, and that page is about proposed times, a draft invite, or a Calendly note. This page is for a connected Google Calendar: events and open time, as the Workspace article describes them for Claude and Claude Desktop.

### Does Claude Duet have its own Google Calendar connector?

The Duet help center says Duet uses the apps you have already connected in Claude, and Google Calendar is one of the examples. You start that connection yourself in Claude settings.

### Will it text the guests or call them?

No. The help center says Claude Duet does not make phone calls or send text messages to other people. With your approval, it can send email from a connected account.

### Will it see an event the moment I add it?

The help center says it checks connected accounts at set intervals, so something urgent can arrive between checks. The launch article says it checks every few hours, because checking nonstop would use the plan’s limits much faster.

### Is there an Outlook path?

The help center says Microsoft 365 is not available yet. This page does not describe Outlook or another calendar.
