## What this does

Anthropic’s launch article says Claude Duet can help prepare agreements and send them for review and signature through Docusign. The product page lists getting contracts ready to send. You connect Docusign yourself. Claude Duet is designed to show you what it is about to do and wait for your approval before it signs a document or sends it. A draft in the thread is not a signed contract.

## Problem

A redlined renewal, an NDA, or a vendor agreement often already sits in email or Drive. Building a packet someone can review is slow. The expensive mistake is a send, or a signature, that nobody read.

This case is the approval-first path. Claude Duet can prepare the agreement and route it through Docusign. It is designed to stop before anything is signed or sent. It is not a law firm.

## What Anthropic documents

The [launch article](https://claude.com/resources/articles/claude-duet) says Claude Duet can help prepare agreements and send them for review and signature through Docusign. The same section says it can use the over 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace. That figure is Anthropic’s. This page does not list them.

Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything, the launch article says it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval. Trading securities and moving money between accounts stay off limits even with approval. You can disconnect any app it can access.

The [product page](https://claude.com/product/claude-duet) lists getting contracts ready to send under “What can Claude Duet do?” It does not name buttons inside Docusign. This case does not invent them.

The [help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/17631495-get-started-with-claude-duet) says Claude Duet is designed to show you what it is about to do and await your approval before sending, paying, signing, or deleting. If you cannot approve right away, it brings that approval back later. When it gives you a summary, it tells you which email, file, or spreadsheet it came from. Under “Connect your apps,” Docusign is named with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, and Calendly. You start every connection. Disconnecting stops new access. Memory of earlier conversations is kept.

It is a research preview. It may misread a thread. Email from the other side can also contain instructions meant to mislead it. The help center calls that prompt injection and says no defense is perfect, which is one reason a signature waits for you.

## Limits

This is not legal advice. If a term is missing, the prompt says to summarize the gap instead of inventing a price, a date, or a clause. There is no turnaround promise in the sources. A draft in the thread is not a signed contract until you approve the send or the sign.

The prompt is a community template. Anthropic does not publish it.

## Steps

1. Connect Docusign yourself in Claude settings. You start the connection, and you can disconnect it later.
2. Paste the prompt. Name the counterparty and the template or source file. Missing terms stay gaps, not guesses.
3. Review the draft and any summary of changes. Read the source. Claude Duet can misread a thread.
4. Approve only the send or sign you intend. Edit or reject it first. That step is designed to wait for you.
5. Do not treat this as a payment. Trading securities and moving money stay off limits even with approval.

## Prompt

```
Using my connected Docusign account and only the terms or template I provide next, prepare a draft agreement for [counterparty]. Summarize any terms you are unsure about instead of inventing them. Show me the draft and wait. Do not send the agreement for signature and do not sign anything until I edit it and approve that specific step.
```

## When to use

- You already have the deal terms or a template, and you will still read the document before you sign or send.
- The counterparty is named, and you can point at the file the draft should follow.
- You want a draft packet and a signature path, not an agent that signs while you are away.

## FAQ

### Can Claude Duet prepare a contract with Docusign?

Anthropic’s launch article says Claude Duet can help prepare agreements and send them for review and signature through Docusign. The product page also lists getting contracts ready to send among things Claude Duet can do. You connect Docusign yourself in Claude settings.

### Will Claude Duet sign or send the agreement without me?

The Claude Help Center says Claude Duet is designed to show you what it is about to do and wait for your approval before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything. Treat every send and sign step as yours to confirm.

### Is a draft in the thread a finished signed contract?

No. Until you approve the send or sign action Anthropic describes, the work stays a draft for you to review. Claude Duet can misread a thread. Read the document before you confirm.

### What do I connect first?

Docusign. The help center lists it with the other connectors and says you start every connection yourself. You can disconnect it later.

### What stays off limits even with approval?

The launch article names trading securities and moving money between accounts. The help center also names accessing someone else’s account. Those limits sit next to this flow. They are not a way to collect on the contract.

### Is this legal advice?

No. The Anthropic pages describe preparing an agreement and sending it for review and signature. They do not say Claude Duet replaces a lawyer. You still read the terms.

### Will it invent terms?

This template tells it not to. If a term is missing, it should summarize what it is unsure about instead of filling in a price, a date, or a clause you did not provide.

### Is this an official Anthropic prompt?

No. It is a community message written to match the launch article and the help center. Anthropic does not publish this wording.
